A miscellaneous collection of 15 original, vintage b&w photographs of children
£15.00
Description: A misc collection of 15 vintage b&w photographs of varying sizes, all of children. From the early 20th century 1930's/40/s I would say, possibly earlier, with an intriguing Rudyard Kipling connection. Children playing in soap box cars, dressing up etc. Charming collection, great for scrapbooking. One photo has two children (a boy and a girl) in very nice, expensive-looking toy cars in a large garden. The inscription on the back reads "Wodin and Mother Bunch at The Elms, Rottingdean, 1929". For several years until 1902, The Elms in Rottingdean was rented and occupied by Rudyard Kipling. "Mother Bunch is an old term used to refer to "A stout, untidy, or awkward-looking woman or girl." Mother Bunch is also the nickname given to one of the characters in Rudyard Kipling's story "His Majesty the King".
Condition: Generally VG. The large photo of a boy in his soap cart is badly damaged and has a large corner coming away.
Provenance: Orphan photos
Size (cm): Various, mostly 14 x 9
