Description: This lovely antique stereo card captures a heavily visited romantic hotspot nestled on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond. The photograph shows the Arklet Burn tumbling down a steep, rocky gorge into the loch. Perched right at the top of the cascading water, you can see a rustic wooden footbridge with two figures standing on it, providing a wonderful sense of scale against the rush of the water. True to the Victorian love of combining scenic travel with romantic literature, the printed label on the left margin quotes William Wordsworth's 1803 poem "The Highland Girl".

Date: Circa 1860–1865. The bright yellow mount, square corners, and simple typography on the pasted label indicate the first half of the 1860s.

Photographer: George Washington Wilson (inventory no #180).

Condition: VG. The yellow mount has minimal staining, the corners are relatively sharp, and the photographic tones are clear with great 3D depth. The text label is fully intact and readable.
