Description: A rare, original Carte De Visite landscape photograph by F. Bedford titled "2723 Clovelly - Chapman's Rocks and the Coast". Francis Bedford was one of the pre-eminent English architecture and landscape photographers of the 19th century and one of the original members of the Photographic Society. Indeed by 1861 he was elected Vice-President of the Photographic Society. In 1862 Bedford became the first official photographer to accompany a member of the British Royal Family when he was invited to travel as part of the entourage of HRH The Prince of Wales on a ‘Tour In The East’. This dates this partcular CDV to being post 1862 as the photographer's stamp on the reverse bears the legend "Photographer to HRH The Prince of Wales".
