Description: A beautiful CDV in amazing condition, of a young lad in a sailor-style outfit, taken by the illustrious British photographer Henry Peach Robinson.
Date: C. 1875-1888. Peach Robinson established his studio in Tunbridge Wells around 1868, initially in partnership with Nelson King Cherrill. The partnership dissolved in 1875, but Robinson continued there till his retirement in 1888.

Provenance: Henry Peach Robinson (1830–1901) was a pivotal figure in photographic history. A pioneering English Pictorialist photographer, famous for his artistic, narrative images created through combination printing, an early form of photomontage where multiple negatives were blended into one picture. He was the author of key books including "Pictorial Effect in Photography£. In 1870, he became vice-president of the Royal Photographic Society. He died in 1888, and in 1897 he was made an honorary member.
