Made in Morecambe? Lettered Rock
£30.00
An original photo collage artwork by Johnny Bean called "Made in Morecambe: Lettered Rock" from my "Made in Morecambe" series.
Local legend Dick 'Dynamite' Taylor, who was working at an explosive factory in 1917, when the factory caught fire and exploded. Dick carried out a colleague before returning to fight the fire and he was later awarded an OBE for his bravery.
In 1918 whilst toying with making boiled sugar confectionery at his home, he created a stick of dynamite-shaped toffee, which became popular and he opened a business as "Taylor's Noted Toffee" (TNT) and subsequently the nickname of Dick 'Dynamite' Taylor was created. A rumour grew that Dick had invented rock which had lettering running through it. Sadly however, it's not true.
The image is printed on archival art paper in either A3 or A4 sizes and supplied unframed, rolled in a tube.
