Description: A photo of a gentleman and a woman giving/receiving a prize. The photo comes from a collection of mostly Rochdale theatrical photographs, and this photo looks 1950s to me. The woman is possibly Gracie Fields. Gracie was a British actress, singer and comedian, born in Rochdale. She was one of the top 10 film stars in Britain during the 1930s and the highest-paid film star in the world in 1937. She had a significant connection to Rochdale's Theatre Royal. She performed there for a charity gala on Oct 22, 1954, weeks before it was destroyed by fire. Gracie was one of the first people at the scene of the fire, and it is said she was heartbroken.
