A rare and charming survivor from the early days of amateur photography — a Kodak dummy film spool produced by Eastman Kodak Co. as a training aid for use with the Kodak Film Tank developing system.

This ingenious little device was designed to teach novice darkroom users how to correctly load an exposed film cartridge for development, without risking real film. The wooden-cored spool with its metal flanged ends is wound with the original printed instruction paper, which remains in remarkably good readable condition for its a

ge. A very scarce piece of Kodak ephemera. I've had it in my personal collection for about 20 years now, and am finally ready to part with it. Text starts... "This spool is wound to represent an exposed film cartridge which is to be prepared for developing".
