Victorian Cabinet Card – Theatrical Portrait by T. J. Unwin, Hereford
£6.00
An original Victorian Cabinet Card featuring a theatrical performer in full costume portraying a Narcissistic Dandy character. A prime example of late 19th-century stage photography. A male actor in a period costume, including a velvet tunic, breeches, a large decorative cravat, and buckled footwear. He is posed dramatically, looking into a small frame or mirror held aloft. This was a common trope for comedic figures in pantomimes or restoration-style comedies that were revived during this era.
Photographer: T. J. Unwin (Late Greetham), Hereford, England.
Date: c. 1890s–1905.
Condition: The image itself is clear with good sepia tones. Please note significant wear to the mount, including a large corner chip at the bottom left and several smaller chips and surface abrasions along the edges. The reverse is plain with the handwritten number "12442" in the top corner, likely a studio negative reference. There is light foxing and corner wear as shown.
Size: 4.25" x 6.5"
