Vintage colour slide of "The Moby Dick", Morecambe, 1966 and viewer

Description: A lovely vintage 35mm colour slide of the 1887 built galleon "The Ryelands", but affectionately known by locals as "The Moby Dick" after a starring role as "The Pequod" in the 1954 film of "Moby Dick" by Elstree Studios. The slide shows the galleon at night, moored on the Stone Jetty in Morecambe, and strung with festoon lighting for the Morecambe Illuminations. The slide comes with a lovely vintage "Reflecta B-40" hand held slide viewer, in orange.

Date: 1966
Provenance: Found photo. The ship also featured as "The Hispaniola" in the 1950 film "Treasure Island" made by RKO/Walt Disney Productions and appeared in the TV series "The Buccaneers" in 1956. She later retired and became a popular attraction for visitors to Morecambe at her final mooring place at the Stone Jetty in the town. In June 1970 the 3-masted schooner caught fire and was reduced to a charred wreck.
